You've just had your teeth whitened and are waiting excitedly for all the compliments when a friend invites you out for coffee. You hurriedly say "Of course!" but then you suddenly panic, "Will coffee re-stain my teeth?" you wonder. Luckily for you, we're here to help you with what is and isn't a good idea after whitening!
Things To Avoid For At Least 1 Week After Whitening
In Short :- anything with a dark colouration
Things That Are Ok After Whitening
In short :- anything with a light colouration
We recommend that you avoid the things in the "avoid" list for as long as possible after the whitening procedure. This is because they are things that can really stain your teeth normally and after whitening your teeth are susceptible to staining for a few days before they return to a normal level of susceptibility. If you experience any sensitivity following your whitening, rinsing with a fluoride mouthwash will help, and if you see any white spots, make a rinse of baking soda and swish it around. A good ratio is half a tea spoon of baking soda in half a glass of water and rinse. The spots usually take 1 hour to disappear.
Remember, if you are having any problems or have any questions about whitening, you can always give us a call on 1300 858 838. This number puts you through to either clinic and our helpful receptionists will do their best to answer your queries (sometimes we have to double check with a dentist to make sure we are telling you the right thing). You can also email us on [email protected] or [email protected]
Now you can go get all those compliments you deserve with the confidence that you know what you can and can't have!
